Comme des Garcons and Louis Vuitton?

Okay, I just read an article from Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune that Comme des Garcons and Louis Vuitton will do a joint venture to have a store for three months in Tokyo. What a combo platter, huh? Will we see frayed LV bags and deconstructed Louis Vuitton suits three sizes too small in knotted boiled wool with holes in them going down the runway? I must say I do enjoy CDG vintage designs more than her current designs, I wish she would have refine her mainline like Yohji Yamamoto is currently doing. I do like her gorilla store concept, I went to the one in Berlin on Karl Marx Allee. The musique was amazing playing Kraftwerk from the early 70's of pre-ambient tracks and cardboard boxes stacked up in corners wondering if they just moved in or moving out. Let the show begin with LV and CDG.

Givenchy Nightingale

I went into Barney's to find out what is the latest hottest handbag. I met Paul, he informed me that Barney's has the exclusivity to Givenchy. The hottest handbag is called the Nightingale, comes in several different colours. The shape is nice and lightweight. Les chassaures s'il vous plait....

Union Square Trois

Today I went to Union Square to check out the new iPhone G3 but the line was way too long so I started looking for style in Union Square.....

Leah looks casual chic in her simple black dress. I like her python sandals, I like how she put some contrast in her full outfit.

Kim looks great today, simple and elegant from head to toe. She too added some contrast with her black as well. Both of them in Sunday chic!

Laurel Heights

Good Byes a.k.a. Good buys is having their annual sale this weekend. I thought I would check them out. I grabbed a cup of coffee and I ran out the door before their doors open to get the best selection. I found two Yohji Yamamoto jackets, one in boiled wool with a marble-like collar and the other a brown gabardine. I really like how he did the collar treatment on the black jacket. I think it'll be fun with a white shirt, blue jeans and English brogues. On sale I saw alot of Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani, Jil Sanders, Dolce & Gabbana. For women I'm sure they have all the heavy hitters from Europe as well. 

111 Minna

111 Minna

Tonight at 111 Minna had a Trigger exhibit/fashion show. The theme was a man with bunny ears on their card, I was thinking of Pogu, the rabbit I once had. The rooms gave a cool indie vibe and a lively substantial crowd. I was lucky to make it there before the fashion show starts. I couldn't see the show close enough to give you a critique so instead I decided to take some fashion shots of the crowd.

Louis Vuitton Sac Bosphore

Speaking of accessories, I like this Louis Vuitton Sac Bosphore bag in design and size. I have mixed feelings about logo bags. Sometimes I like them and sometimes I get tired of seeing them. Interestingly enough while in Europe I saw very very few logo bags. More women are concerned about their outfit in design than a logo bag. Only in America and in Asia is it really popular. I'm not against logo bags, I like them as well, I do carry a Y-3 backpack. Furthermore, that's all we see as we turn the magazine pages is Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Prada ads. I just wish there were more to chose from, that's all.

Men's Accessories for Fall

I really enjoy reading and listening to Suzy Menkes with the International Herald Tribune. She's really on top of things fresh from Paris. I noticed when I was in Paris IHT newspaper was everywhere! Back to Suzy, she's forecasting that men will buy more shoes and scarves this fall season with the economical climate a.k.a recession. That's good news because they're some cool designs coming out for fall from Prada shoes with the rubber band across the top. Now you can go buy a pair of cool shoes or a playful scarf for fall and you don't have to break the bank.

Chez Grace à Paris

When your in Paris, going to Montmartre can be a climb like the hills of San Francisco. Yet, there's a piece of heaven there, her name is Grace. I once attended one of her exhibits, there was a fun crowd there and the energy was amazing; very international. She opens her door to new artist that wants to do a exhibit in Paris. She recently got a wonderful write up in www.parisvoice.com. Her favorite colours are red and black. She loves both French and Japanese designers. She looks great!

Cole Valley

I found Ariana today waiting for the N line. She looks cute in the black sheer shirt and dress with the drawstring. I like how she accessorize the headband with the drawstring dress and t-strap shoes. Nicely done Ariana!

Neil Barrett Plus

I'm getting more impressed with Neil Barrett's work. His work reminds me of Helmut Lang in a way, minimalism with an added design to make it interesting. He doesn't cut for ultra skinny guys so Joe Average can fit into it. I can already hear Alva Noto's electronic musique playing on the runway.

I went to Japan/Korea town today. Stopped by Kinokuniya Bookstore, found some cool design books. The black outfit is from Yohji Yamamoto for women and Neil Barrett's vest has a bondage effect is very cool.

The sexist man alive! I would love to see him do ads for a hot designer.

Financial District

Today I met Sonia. She's wearing a polka dotted jacket and black skirt. I like how she coordinated the jacket with the black skirt. She went further by wearing fishnet stockings which looks great!

Sergio is looking great in a crisp grey tropical weight suit with a striped shirt in the heat. I like how he coordinated his blue shirt and checkerboard necktie is done well. Looking good Sergio!

Summertime Linen

I am a wimp when there's a heat wave! But there's also a material to the rescue called linen. The linen I'm fond of is the Italian linen because it's lighter weight vs. Irish Linen that's heavier. The flow is graceful when you see a man or a woman wearing linen, reminds of hot days and old movie locations in the desert. 

I would love it if more American men wore shoes without socks like this example. Actually the comfort is pretty good if you wear suede or rubber sole shoes.
